Chocolate Cakes
There are many options for cakes with a rich Chocolaty appearance. Frostings
include:
Chocolate Ganache: a rich truffle covering that is poured over the cake giving
the cake a smooth, shiny appearance. You can also pipe intricate designs with
ganache or paint on ganache with sugar dust.
Chocolate Fudge: a thick ganache that is spread over the cake to create various
styles of textured surfaces. This can be done with dark chocolate, milk chocolate,
hazelnut chocolate and white chocolate.
Chocolate Buttercream: Traditional Italian meringue buttercream
flavored with dark, milk or white chocolate to the flavor and color desired.
Buttercream
can be frosted smooth or textured.
Chocolate Fondant: A very smooth covering made from sugar paste and chocolate.
This has a very sophisticated looked that can be made in shades of chocolate
from creamy white to extra dark chocolate.
Many flavors of cake are compatible with chocolate frostings.
